An Evening to Remember
A Tribute to the MusicÂ
andÂ
To The Man, Pat Capolla
South 9th Street is a tribute to a special genera of music which emerged in the 40', extending through the early 60's. The music was usually characterized by rich harmonies and a lead vocalist.Â
The groups frequently performed on street corners for eager listeners to enjoy. South 9th Street was formed in the Bronx, New York by Pat Capolla, lead vocalist and his wife, Diane, sound engineer. The album: "An Evening to Remember" featured Pat's amazing 5 1/2 octave range and the group's tight backing vocals. The group, based in the Bay Area, California, relocated to Las Vegas and found musicians, with Gregg Norman as musical director, to continue the venture. The group performed for 6 incredible years, until Pat became ill and died. Diane died soon after. South 9th Street is a tribute to Pat and Diane, and to the music of the times. On this site are audio files from the original South 9th Street album, available on YouTube. I hope you will enjoy the tunes, and the upcoming live performances.
